Al Lewis is a singer/songwriter originally from North Wales but now based in London.

"..If Damien Rice and David Gray ever met in a bar one day, decided to write a bunch of songs and then asked Jack Johnson to play them, then you'd probably get something close to what you might expect to hear from Al Lewis."
- Venue Magazine (Bristol)

The Story so Far..............

Although still only 23, Al has been performing and composing since he was 15. It was during those early formative years, having formed a band with his school friends in North Wales, that he developed a passion for music and in particular song writing.

In 2002 he started studying at the University of Bristol. He soon assimilated himself into the live music scene there and enjoyed great success playing to large crowds across Bristol.

Between 2004 and 2005 Al lived in Toulouse, France. While living in France he began to do several solo acoustic concerts. On his return from France, Al recorded his first EP. Songs from this first EP picked up airplay on BBC Wales and Bristol and Al began performing live acoustic gigs all over Bristol and Cardiff.

In October 2006 his debut album "More Ways than One" was released. The album was recorded at Briar Bank Studios in Penarth, South Wales. It contained 12 tracks (including one in French and one in Welsh) and yet again received widespread airplay on regional BBC radio stations.

In March 2007 at the live televised "Song for Wales" competition Al performed and co-wrote the song "Llosgi" (Burning) which won the professional songwriters category and came second overall.

The following summer Al released his first Welsh language EP entitled "Byw mewn Breuddwyd" (Living in a Dream) and performed at the "Wakestock Festival" alongside Mark Ronson. Later in the year Al played at the inaugural "Swn Fest" in Cardiff hosted by Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens.

A regular face on the London acoustic-scene; Al can be seen performing at well known venues across the city such as The Bedford, The Troubadour, The Slaughtered Lamb and Ginglik.
