Hello and welcome to my website.
I've compiled a Spotify playlist of songs which I think are a good representation of my body of work so far.

Make a Little Room - As a single, this song brought me to a much wider audience when it featured for 4 weeks on the BBC Radio 2 playlist.

The Arsonist - A track off my first English album In the Wake which I released as a limited edition 7" vinyl for Record Store Day.

Rubble & Keep Your Ghost - Two tracks taken off the award-winning debut album 'Ghost' from Lewis & Leigh. A duo I started with the Mississippi born singer/songwriter Alva Leigh. Rubble talks of the parallels between the post-Thatcher mining valleys of South Wales and the post-Katrina towns of South Mississippi.

Llosgi - This was a song that came second in the Welsh language 'Can i Gymru' (Song for Wales) competition on S4C.

Al Lewis is a singer/songwriter originally from North Wales now based in Cardiff.

As a bilingual writer and performer, Al has so far released a total of 5 albums, his debut English language album ‘In the Wake’ was nominated for the inaugural Welsh Music Prize and his Welsh language album ‘Heulwen o Hiraeth’ was nominated for the National Eisteddfod Welsh Album of the Year prize. Al has spent multiple weeks on the BBC Cymru Welsh Language Charts and scooped the award for ‘Best Male Artist’ two years in a row at the BBC Radio Cymru Awards.

Gathering support and praise from eminent DJs such as Huw Stephens, Cerys Matthews, Janice Long and Dermot O’Leary, Al has also received support from, Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson and Bob Harris, all of whom have championed Al’s music on their respective BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6 Music shows. Al was also invited by Bob Harris and BBC Introducing to perform a showcase at the Americana Music Festival in Nashville.

Al has opened for the legendary Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra playing shows across the UK, culminating in a sold-out performance at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London.

One of Al’s biggest successes so far was for his Christmas single based upon the Dylan Thomas short story, ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’. It was the first bilingual song containing Welsh lyrics to make it on to the BBC Radio 2 playlist and was hailed by Gary Barlow as a ‘great song’.

Al is also a fervent collaborator – as one half of both the award-winning duo Lewis & Leigh with American singer/songwriter Alva Leigh whose debut album Ghost came out to critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic and GLASLYN his latest project with soundscape artist Kayla Painter.
